Crockron, a Columbus native, graduated from Ohio University with degrees in performance and music. She said that she has always been a performer and that her studies mesh well with theater.
“My degrees are in vocal performance and education. Performing and teaching people to perform have always been a part of my life,” she said.
“OVST is extremely happy to have Ivy Crockron as our new managing director,” said Hudson. “She brings a great deal of experience and enthusiasm to our community theater organization. Many people in our community already know Ivy and OVST is indeed pleased to have her join our organization.”
Crockron’s responsibilities as OVST’s managing director include maintaining the organization’s office and the box office, managing the facilities, arranging auditions and scheduling venues. Her duties also involve budgeting, tracking finances and hiring all staff for the productions.
Theatergoers will remember Crockron in the role of Maria in OVST’s “West Side Story” in 1997. She said that she always goes to the OVST shows, and when she saw the advertisement for the managing director position she immediately applied. She said she is “looking toward the future with high hopes for the continued success of OVST.”
“My main focus is to maintain OVST’s rich tradition of the magic of live theater,” she said.
